When people speak of the ‘import ban’ on frozen chicken in Nigeria - does anyone actually realise that that ban has been in place for SIXTEEN years, since 2003?

So in actual fact a land border closure in 2019 should ideally not affect the local chicken market.

Which means...
You know I’m struggling to think of any items Buhari Admin has placed an IMPORT Ban on, since 2015.

In fact, virtually every import ban in Nigeria today dates back to pre-2015, ESPECIALLY OBJ era. OBJ actually King of Import Bans. As recently as 2016 wanted ban on fruit imports
But PDP-leaning Intellectuals/ Errconomists want you to believe PDP era was era of free market wan ting wan ting & APC is the protectionist statist wan ting wan ting.

Here to tell you those arguments are intellectually fraudulent and betray a total ignorance of Nigerian history.
Still on border closure. Before 2019, the most impactful RECENT border closure between Nigeria & Benin was in Aug 2003 (6 days)

The Badagry Agreement of Aug 14, 2003 re-opened the border. See what the Agreement - signed by both Presidents - said about persistent “infringement”:
