This is awful, if true. A state should respect the rights of its citizens in all cases, not put life-and-death decisions about those citizens to a public referendum on social media.

What’s next, public hangings based on the volume of stadium cheers?
The Instagram post is certainly on her account, and I’m told by two sources who speak Finnish that this is indeed what she’s saying.

Well, that was quick. Apparently, she’s removed the post just now?
And let’s please remember what the issue is here: Finland’s govemment needs to live up to the obligations it has to its citizens, respect their rights and bring all its people home, rather than leave them to rot in Syria.

The Israeli government revoked Omar’s work visa on the asserted grounds that his advocacy violated a 2017 law barring entry to those who advocate a boycott of Israel.

But neither Human Rights Watch, nor Shakir as its representative, has ever called for a boycott of Israel. 2/

OK, let’s spend a minute in a thread to explain why the @EU_commission’s decision to put migration under a portfolio named, "Protecting our European Way of Life," is a dangerous mainstreaming of far-right ideas.
@EU_Commission The phrase is very similar to terms used by hate-merchants like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who uses phrases like this to scare Hungarians about migrants & pretends to protect voters against the fake threat he’s invented.
@EU_Commission It’s the typical us-vs-them demagoguery and demonization of minority groups we see in the rhetoric of all far-right groups in Europe.

("Ex parte" is Latin for "from." An ex parte communication is one coming from only one party, not providing any notice to the other party. Basically the opposite of a letter copied to opposing counsel, filed publicly, and served via the electronic filing system.)

The motion is weak and the basis is LOLable, but my suspicion is that the judge will grant it (though likely for less than 3 weeks)

Defendants will argue the burden is on Plaintiff to show good cause (the motion doesn't do that), plus ongoing harassment

Positive for the Defendants. He gives their attorneys lots of usable material

A good rule of thumb as y'all see an assortment of "bUt ThEy LiEd UnDeR oAtH" tweets from conVics is that they're typically projecting – accusing others of the things they themselves or R.Broly have done

Today is the Punya Thithi of Alluri Sitarama Raju, the great revolutionary hero who led an uprising against the British in the tribal regions of Andhra Pradesh, and was shot dead by them on this date in 1924. Another great hero who did not get his due.
One of the more ignored aspects of the Indian freedom struggle has been the various tribal revolts that broke out against the British rule. Tribals were prohibited from cutting trees for firewood, their traditional Podu cultivation was banned, and they were often exploited
Many protests broke out in the tribal areas of Eastern Indian, notably Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Western Odisha, Bengal, one of the more famous one was that of Birsa Munda in Jharkhand.

As of August 2017, the Artist's Union England determines the following hourly rates for an artist to be fair; £21.04 p/hr for a new graduate artist. That's about $28 dollars for my US friends. This goes up to £27.27 p/hr for 3 yrs+ exp, and £31.47 per hour for 5 years or more. /2
If you are doing sessional/daily rates such as presentations, consultations and installations. You should be looking at £166.24 p/day (£ 83.12 p/ 1⁄2 day) for a new grad artist, £218.19 p/day (£109.10 p/ 1⁄2 day) 3 yrs+ exp, £270.14 p/day (£135.07 p/ 1⁄2 day) 5 yrs+ exp. /3
