Sterling has shot up against dollar 1.34
This sort of majority - if correct - would give Boris Johnson quite the freedom to manoeuvre over where he lands Brexit.

Obvious context here is Nissan set up in UK, post EEC, expressly to access EU market tariff free, because could not directly from Japan. If correct, Japan could import Japan-made cars to UK tariff-free, while there remains uncertainty its UK-made cars could access EU tariff free

As UK telecoms industry looks like it is about to get its way in terms of use of Huawei tech outside of core network for 5G services... they argue it is already within their rollout, cheaper, part of a diversified network of other suppliers, and no evidence yet of backdoors etc..
... they have been pointing out that significant impact of US approach to Huawei is to push Chinese to become entirely self sufficient in mobile technology - chips, operating systems etc, previously sourced from US (Android) or UK - now being developed within China for its market
...and in its new quest for tech self sufficiency what is China leaning on heavily?

What was biggest UK tech business chip designer Arm Holdings, sold to Japanese SoftBank weeks after Brexit to Govt acclaim, which then onsold more than half Chinese business to China consortium.

French finance minister Bruno Le Maire announces that after meeting with Mnuchin and OECD again this morning they have an agreement to delay digital tax payments/ US tariff retaliation
We now have a global agreement
- France accepts postponing payments of digital tax from April 15 to end of 2020
- US suspends sanctions 301
- agreed text for OECD negotiations, after withdrawing the words “optional taxation”
I suggest to Lemaire that France has simply acquiesced to aggressive US tariff threats... he responds for France that “we have been tough” in pushing ahead with the first digital tax in the first place and this has pushed negotiations for a global solution

We consistently estimated that there would be a Conservative Majority throughout the campaign. (2/n)
Our final GB vote shares were Con 42.6, Lab 33.8, LD 12.4, Brexit 2.9, Green 2.8, SNP 3.4, PC 0.5. The GB results (1 seat pending) were Con 44.9, Lab 33.1, LD 11.8, Brexit 2.1, Green 2.8, SNP 3.9, PC 0.5. All within our prediction intervals. (3/n)
