As UK telecoms industry looks like it is about to get its way in terms of use of Huawei tech outside of core network for 5G services... they argue it is already within their rollout, cheaper, part of a diversified network of other suppliers, and no evidence yet of backdoors etc..
... they have been pointing out that significant impact of US approach to Huawei is to push Chinese to become entirely self sufficient in mobile technology - chips, operating systems etc, previously sourced from US (Android) or UK - now being developed within China for its market
...and in its new quest for tech self sufficiency what is China leaning on heavily?

What was biggest UK tech business chip designer Arm Holdings, sold to Japanese SoftBank weeks after Brexit to Govt acclaim, which then onsold more than half Chinese business to China consortium.
Within a year, acc to Nikkei, with Huawei one of its biggest customers: “Arm China has also developed infrastructure needed to make an artificial intelligence processor as well as a central processing unit” & cryptographic algorithms...

“Arm China projects that its business will overtake its parents (ie what was UK Arm) by 2025... also envisages eventually selling and licensing its own technology to its parent”... acc to Nikkei above...
Also in October, Arm determined that its v8 and v9 chip designs were legally of UK, not US origin and thus the US embargo on transfer of tech to Huawei did not apply... so Huawei has grown with UK tech at core, and through Arm China this will continue...
