Last night we saw Britain’s Labour Party take a drubbing at the polls. The electorate clearly was not interested a party run by a man who has a questionable affinity for terrorists like Hamas, a rampant antisemitism problem in his party, as well as unpopular economic policies 1/
among other issues. One thing seemingly overlooked by at least most of western media was Corbyn’s “interactions” earlier in his career with StB - Czechoslovakia’s version of Russia’s KGB. H/t @thespybrief There were some very uncomfortable interactions between him & this 2/
“extension” of Russian Intelligence Services. What is often overlooked is that before there was massive penetration of conservative parties in the West by Russia, there was massive penetrations of liberal and “leftist” parties. During the Soviet era, many on the far left 3/
enjoyed a kinship with Russia based upon shared perceived ideals. These relationships did not end with the fall of communism. All the “relationships”, as well as RIS assets & infrastructure, remained active in the West. Merely bc Russia dropped the hammer and sickle, 4/
it didn’t stop its desire and determination to undermine western institutions as we can see via Putin. Russia knows that there infiltration of conservative parties of the West is being exposed. By this occurring, the also know that their conservative assets have lost all 5/
trustworthiness and credibility. There assets on the left, however, haven’t. That’s where their next push to undermine western institutions will come from. From the left. It appears Great Britain has rejected Corbynism for many reasons and went with the devil they know. 6/
RIS wants us to be so sick of someone like Trump, we’ll grasp for “radical change.” This is the last thing we should do. By placing someone too far left of center as Trump’s opponent, we risk 1 of 2 things. A Trump re-election or if he’s defeated, tremendous resentment on 7/
the right and center which will further erode our institutions and, as a nation, fray our social fabric and unity. We have to prevent the political pendulum from these violent and diametrically opposed swings. Successful governance is derived from the center, be it, 8/
center-left or right. We need to keep these thoughts at the forefront when we next visit the polls. X
