If you want to host a business seminar in Lagos and you want to save money on venue, I can give you my seminar room (capacity, 60) for FREE. It’s in Igbo Efon, before Chevron, Lekki Epe Expressway.
All you need to do is send me an email with the details of your event. What’s the topic? How many people are you expecting? Is it free or paid? If paid, how much? You can send me the graphics promoting the event. Who are the speakers?
Some kinds of events are prohibited.

One of the reasons small business owners go out of business is because they keep reducing their prices due to competition forgetting that Nigerians are not looking for the lowest prices, they are looking for what they perceive as the best deal.

If your only marketing weapon is price reduction, you will run into trouble because there is always another naive business owner like you willing to lower their prices. Then you lower yours. Then they lower theirs. At the end of the day, you all go out of business.
Don’t try to copy big businesses that use low entry points to win customers over. They have the cash. They can lose hundreds of millions or even billions for years before they think of profits. You don’t have that money. Maybe your entire capital and savings is N500k.

If you know how to do something many people don’t know how to and are eager to learn, share it for free on social media. Don’t be stingy.
It doesn’t mean you should stop selling information. Infact, giving out free information will help you sell more. I have sold more of my books because I gave out two chapters for free and also for my free teachings on Instagram.
If you are good at repairing computers, share some tips online. If you are good at graphic design, share some tips online. Sharing will help people and will help you too. That is the reason why I share all I share.

When a new social media platform starts “picking up”, go right there and register for an account with your desired username. Maybe your brand name. It doesn’t matter whether you don’t like the new platform, just register it... TODAY!

In 2008, I opened a twitter account for myself, (@akinalabi). I didn’t like twitter then. I didn’t start using it regularly until a few years ago. You know what? If I didn’t register it then, someone would have registered @akinalabi especially when you consider it is a very name.
Now that I am serious with the Akin Alabi brand, I would have regretted not registering it then. Same with Instagram. I did the same thing even when I didn’t like it. I did it with Snapchat too. It brings consistency to your brand. Go and registered your “regular” username.

Starting my journey into political activism on the far left as a students unionist before ending up somewhere in the middle helped me to understand many things about capitalism as well as political leadership and government.

This case of Lagos is a time-bomb that will explode.
That journey took a turn when after watching Fashola in 2010 on television one day declare arrogantly that “there are no low cost cement bags or iron rods and so there can be no low-cost housing”.

I immediately looked up gubernatorial candidates in Lagos and found @BOGbadamosi.
Karl Marx’s book - Das Kapital - is a critique of the political economy of capitalism that ends with a proposal that socialism is the best form of political economy across the world.

If you suspend his conclusion though, you will find that Marx actually redefined capitalism.
