Once upon a time there lived a VietNam combat vet in the woods of New Hampshire. A broken neck in Nam had made him a DAV since the war and he worked his entire life with said screwed up neck....which lead to other medical issues culminating in 100% DAV after fifty years of
outside employment. So our intrepid vet gets a VA loan/mortgage on his home. Nice fixed rate for a fixed income. Then one fine fall day, our vet starts bleeding internally and after two emergency trips ends up in Dartmouth Hitchcock where they save his life. The VA covers all.
The ambulance services send their claim to the VA which are duly received and 10 months later are rejected because the ambulance people didn't forward the bill to beneficiary travel as directed by the VA.

In the Outer Banks of North Carolina is a town called Beaufort (pronounced BO-fert, and not to be confused with Beaufort, SC, pronounced BYEW-fert, because America). Beaufort was established in 1709 and is sometimes said to be the site of the last battle of the Revolutionary War.
