1/ As a potential victim of anti-Semitism, I am supposedly being supported by those who use violence to suppress Nazis who may harbor me ill-will for my ethnicity.
But they scare the hell out of me, because truly, they are on the Nazis side.

2/ A Nazi-puncher, just like an anti-Semite, is on the side of tribal violence. Their beliefs and actions are in direct opposition to peace and to our pluralistic, diverse society. They've found a new excuse to unleash the old primitive violence that lurks in every human heart.
3/ It may be that today, their thuggishness is directed at my enemies. But what happens tomorrow, when alliances shift, and my people become a scapegoat again, as so often before?
4/ In a truly peaceful society, intolerant to political, racial, and religious violence, I am always safe. In a society where beating up your enemies is accepted, I am only safe while no one considers me an enemy. And that is not what my grandparents moved here for.
5/ So if you want to signal your support for street violence, go ahead, I support your freedom of speech. But DON'T YOU DARE say it's on behalf of me or any other at-risk minority. We know that whenever violence rises, whatever the excuse du jour, it is we who we are in danger.
