“We’re taking the class ice skating on Friday the 13th.” they said.

“The kids will have fun!” they said.
Downside: my son fell, heard a pop, can’t bend his leg and may have blown out his knee.

Upside: as a regular guest at urgent care, they have all his info on file.
Diagnosis: possible partial MCL tear or medial meniscus tear. Hopefully just a sprain.

It hasn’t impacted his appetite. The kid put down shrimp and grits, two eggs, a biscuit, a raspberry iced tea and a piece of pound cake.

You may have noticed I’ve done less real-time covering of hearings and more tweeting about life outside Twitter and politics lately.

That hasn’t been an accident. I’ve felt a negative tide pulling at me and at the lot of us on Twitter as we all gnash in frustration.

There is an inevitable sense of helplessness and despair that comes from staring too long and too intently at the public murder of truth in service of a corrupt president.

To wallow in that riptide is to be pulled under and pulled farther and farther from shore.

2/
And that shore is decency and honor and integrity and character and human goodness.

Those things still exist - even if not on display in these hearings - and they need to be found and seen and basked in to stay grounded in what makes life worth living.

Time and climate change, some seeming paradoxes or at least some creative tensions between the two....
On the one hand, every day of delay in climate action means higher cumulative emissions and more damage to communities and ecosystems and more risk of triggering tipping points. We must speed up to meet the climate challenge, that's a pretty clear consensus.
But, some say, if we slowed down we could walk places or sail or take the train, and repair things, and grow and cook food and eat it slowly in the company of others. We could change emissions in small ways, and perhaps change culture in bigger ways.

The motion is weak and the basis is LOLable, but my suspicion is that the judge will grant it (though likely for less than 3 weeks)

Defendants will argue the burden is on Plaintiff to show good cause (the motion doesn't do that), plus ongoing harassment

Positive for the Defendants. He gives their attorneys lots of usable material

A good rule of thumb as y'all see an assortment of "bUt ThEy LiEd UnDeR oAtH" tweets from conVics is that they're typically projecting – accusing others of the things they themselves or R.Broly have done

Today, dedicated payroll taxes are relied upon to operate Social Security and *some of* Medicare. There are two Trust Funds associated with each of these federal programs. Social Security's Trust Funds are: OASI (Old-Age and Survivors Insurance) and DI (Disability Insurance).
Medicare's two separate Trust Funds are: Hospital Insurance (HI) and Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI). Each year, the financial health of Social Security and Medicare is evaluated in the form of an Annual Report of the Trustees. ssa.gov/oact/TRSUM/
