'tis the season to air some A. W.S. Grievances. Here we go...
We start with their service naming. It’s past time they fired the @awscloud Sustems Manager Marketing Manager who names some of these travesties. They leave me cold; certainly not UltraWarm.
Related: they named a building "reInvent." Think about the confusion that causes.
Their Byzantine and expensive data transfer pricing. Durability vs cost; it's a Hobson's choice for some customers. Which well architected pillar do *you* value more?
Meanwhile, their shit-tier native offerings of established open source projects don't charge for data transfer. If you're looking to build an antitrust case, here's a good starting point.
Their free tier exception list invariably leads to free tears. "I'm on the free tier and just got a $300 bill" is met with "beg for forgiveness" and that's terrible customer obsession.
Their BS 18-month post employment non competes. lastweekinaws.com/blog/why-i-tur…
Their politics. No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, they've done something to piss you off.
There remains nowhere to see what's running across your entire account or organization other than "the bill." The things they don’t charge for will rot until the end of time in your account.
The complete dumbfounded "wait, what" approach some of their defenders take at the notion that someone might possibly not love some of their business practices.
