Lesko was in the Arizona Legislature for nine years before she catapulted into the seat left open two years ago after it got out that then Republican Rep. Trent Franks was running around asking female staffers to have his baby.
While in the state Legislature, Lesko was chief water carrier for the American Legislative Exchange Counci and the brains behind a bill to offer credit-challenged Arizonans the golden opportunity to borrow money at the low, low interest rate of 164%.
She also was the sponsor behind the bill to dramatically expand school vouchers – a law that voters subsequently slapped down before it could take effect.
During a 2018 Arizona Republic editorial board meeting, she was touting her vote to allocate $25 billion for a border wall and technology when she was asked where the money will come from. Lesko's reply: "From our budget."
When asked what she would do to shore up Social Security, the congresswoman had nothing – other than the fact that she opposes tax increases and doesn't know whether she would raise the retirement age.

Lesko has also managed to push through Betsy DeVos-backed legislation authorizing an expensive school voucher program. Since it’s inception in 2011, the school voucher program has drained over $100 million from Arizona’s general tax fund, with no end in sight.
She claims she is a fiscal conservative.

After Arizonans overwhelmingly approved an increase in the minimum wage at the ballot box via voter initiative, Lesko schemed with the Arizona Chamber of Commerce to make it more difficult for citizens to express their will at the ballot box.

Lesko wholeheartedly endorses Trump’s building a wall on our southern border. She also co-sponsored the controversial Show Your Papers Law (SB1070) passed by the Arizona legislature in 2010. That law was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court
Allegedly, Lesko committed campaign finance fraud. Further, unlike Dr. Tipirneni, Lesko refused to pledge a refusal of corporate PAC donations and has welcomed support from the Koch Brothers.
