Yang - C even though he pissed me off
Steyer - C even though he pissed me off
Buttigieg - B- even though he REALLY pissed me off
Warren - G and in OMG, she seemed petty and mean and Mayor Pete made her look really bad.

Sanders - F - for fraud who made every issue just his issue
I actually wish Warren had performed better, but she was really off tonight. Also, she doesn't get to pick up "prosecute the case against Trump" just because Kamala suspended. Not cool, Senator, not cool

Citizens United is a disaster for this country and it has fuck all to do with wine caves and disclosed donors. I am going to be really pissy about this because I hate defending Pete Buttigieg, but
Sanders and Warren are dangerously conflating legal disclosed hard money with the undisclosed, unregulated expenditures by 501c4 organizations. Citizens United has nothing to do with people making disclosed donations to PACs or candidates.
Biden, Sanders, and Warren all entered the race with distinct advantages over the other candidates, larger national profiles and a database of donors. Warren and Sanders also had money in the bank from previous campaigns.

In 30 years of community organizing, one thing I have learned that propinquity is far more corrupting that money. That's why lobbyists go to so many events, so they can say hi, chat about golf, the kids, pumpkin spice lattes, and so on.
They are affable, charming, and friendly and legislators think this nice person cannot possibly be working for Voldemort. They get on a friendly basis with everyone (or nearly everyone) so that they get heard.
I surely think campaign finance reform is necessary and Citizens United is a blight, but how do you fight propinquity?

Wow, I was not paying enough attention to Bernie's "I'm white" comment. It is worse than I thought.

"And I’m white as well! … Here is the issue. The issue is where power resides in America, and it’s not white or black or male or female."
He continues, "We are living in a nation increasingly becoming an oligarchy, where you have a handful of billionaires who spend hundreds of millions of dollars buying elections and politicians."

The oligarchy was built by racism, dude
I am so tired of the class reductionists who pretend racism and sexism play little or no role in the class structure.

There is no question that the two women candidates won the #DemocraticDebate. @amyklobuchar and @ewarren each raised issues no one else did and answered questions the moderators asked that other candidates side-stepped. Each made powerful cases for her electability and strength.
.@TomSteyer had his best debate thus far. But his argument that no one else can bring it to Trump is false. He's not that strong a debater. @AndrewYang was better than Steyer, but still too dependent on his $1k UBI. He had a superb statement about being a feminist ally, though.
.@JoeBiden had a better debate than any recently and did a good job reminding people that he has been on the political stage for decades in a good way and only referred to Obama twice.
@BernieSanders was repetitive shouty Bernie. Warren won the left polemics over Bernie--bigly.

Last night’s #DemocraticDebate was better than the previous efforts, as the moderators were more up to the task. Here are my notes:

1/ Kamala won this thing. After watching the three forerunners trade barbs about health care policy arcana—why not just announce, “America, turn to the football game?”—she made the operative point on the issue: Dems WANT people to have healthcare. Trump wants to take it away.
2/ I wish Kamala, or anyone, had gone even further and mentioned the time Trump denied healthcare coverage to his nephew, a child with a serious medical condition, as a way of punishing his brother for perceived disloyalty.
