... That is exactly how US has couched its approach to pathogen reduction treatments for eg chicken
most notable part of the speech so far that the PM has chosen to start to make an argument that a move in the direction of US food standards from EU ones could be "driven by science" and "America-bashers" disagree

Quite a story this - relies on Nissan’s share of UK market going from 1 in 25 cars to 1 in 5 as WTO tariffs of 10% applied to VWs, Fords.
Presumably Japan trade deal helps with parts too...
... It’s denied that this is an actual contingency plan though in the official Nissan quote, which has the rather alarming quote that WTO tariffs would make Nissan’s “entire business” both in UK and Europe “not sustainable”...
Eg the idea seems to predate these reports on plans for a major post Ghosn restructure... including suggestion two plants would be shut:

It’s Port of Liverpool - part of journey I did this week up Mersey estuary for news at 10 on big Brexit econ choice/ trade off..

Here they say: “What we’re doing is trying to anticipate benefits as result of Brexit, how trade flows might shift, & adjust strategy accordingly” /1
Across the water though is the Birkenhead ferry to Belfast, whose transport of goods will see new checks after transition, within the internal boundaries of the UK under terms of renegotiated Brexit deal... essentially to get more freedom for above... big choice is what sort. /2
