This thread is interesting re: Warren. Not clear that health care *should* have played such a central role in the Democratic campaign, especially given the infeasibility of passing M4A-type policies through Congress.

But I'm also not sure you can just blame the media for it.
First, polls show that health care is also a key issue for *voters*.

Second, many of the *candidates* were happy to talk about health care. Bernie (from the left), Buttigieg and Biden (from the center) all thought they had an advantage over Warren on the issue.
Third, this is not just a hindsight-is-20/20 thing. Lots of people that "I've-got-a-plan-for-that" candidate not having her own health care plan could be a big problem. This was among the more predictable developments of the campaign. fivethirtyeight.com/features/bulle…
IDK, I think it's honestly pretty hard to figure out what the Warren campaign "should" be doing at this point (or if it needs to anything differently at all). But one thing they *could* do is argue explicitly that health care *shouldn't* be so central in the campaign.
