(1/3) MALIGNANT NORMALITY - this has become a highly relevant term. Coined by Robert Jay Lifton, it's a degenerative societal phenomenon. Mass numbers of people begin to view reality thru a skewed lens of a leader, even adopt his traits. Sadly and obviously, it's happened here.
(2/3) Malignant Normality has a history and obvious correlations. Who among us hasn't wondered how Nazi Germany came to be? Obfuscation of truth, maligning the free press, controlling a narrative by repeating staccato sound bites. Malignant Normality is a SOCIETAL illness.
(3/3) The level of Malignant Normality within his base will permeate if we continue to treat pathology as mere quirks. His disorders will worsen; his core base will worsen with him, becoming more detached. We MUST address his disorders IN the public narrative WITH specificity!

(1) We've tweeted often about his malignant narcissism, pathology, and the phenomenon of malignant normality infecting his base. But for all our observations and explanatory analysis, we marvel that this man, over a 73 year life, has never truly been held accountable. Until now.
(2) He has overtly spun such a false narrative for such a long time. He has lied about his inheritance. He has hidden his freakin' grades. He has lied profusely about his wealth and to perpetuate that lie, has hidden his taxes. He has failed many times, bankrupted many things.
(3) He has committed frauds, paid fines in the millions of $ on multiple occasions. His morality and ethics are compromised to the nth degree. His acuity is below average. He has cheated in everything from business to golf. Has paid off women for silence about his transgressions.

(1) We want to speak about GASLIGHTING. To our knowledge - it's never been so prevalent and successfully duped so many. Gaslighting is a crucial tool used by many abusive personalities. It is lying to someone in a way that adds doubt to their own perception of reality. Examples:
(2) Examples of gaslighting are: "It never happened that way."-OR- "What you are seeing and hearing is not what is happening." People who gaslight say that something happened which didn't, and then they deny having said that.

The whistleblower story is not shocking to the mental health community. Yes, it's shocking we're in this place, but the behavior = consistent with the disorder. We must learn from history. The bar will keep moving toward the obvious: he loses the election and won't leave. (more)
We understand the Speaker's sensitivity to public sentiment. We understand a large swathe of the public is experiencing Malignant Normality. But Speaker - if you expect a peaceful transition of power because that's how it is generally done, please alter your expectations. (more)
The time to impact the public narrative is now. The time for impeachment has come. The time for infusing the narrative HEAVILY with the nature of his disorder is also now - his pathology is the only explanation for the underlying core of what he says and does.

Discussing authoritarianism has been extremely popular in the age of Trump. Tons of books have come out on it, but for me most miss the mark because they're focused on finding historic parallels but rarely do these parallels actually explain the mechanisms involved mentally.
In an American context, we have a tendency to view authoritarianism through the prism of the use and application of any power.

This doesn't actually make any sense however. This is why you see Republicans often make parallels about single payer and Hitler's healthcare programs.
The problem with Hitler wasn't his healthcare program or agricultural administration.

It was his focus on ethnic cleansing, genocide, and hyper martial imperialism.
