Imagine, in Califonrnia, voting against this: “SB 50 would bar cities from mandating low-density development within a quarter or half mile (depending on particulars) of significant job centers and transit infrastructure like train stations, major bus lines, and ferry terminals.”
People think upzoning means their properties/rentals will be seized and turned into skyscrapers. No. It just ALLOWS for more density on empty or flipped parcels.
The SF Board of Supes has always been a NIMBY organization. The changes this city/area is undergoing have and will swamp this mentality, further solidifying the gains to few. We need supervisors who are willing to play offense for the greater good.
Historically city-wide supes/aldermen/reps have been used to secure (mostly) white power. But I do wonder if there is a 21st century way to do that without the racial animus.
Was at a party last night in which a few people said rhey’d never vote for anyone who opposed SB50. I said they’d have to vote against all SF supes but one. So

A) housing crisis dominates all CA conversations
B) inaction will get you tossed
