The backchannel between McConnell’s and Chao’s offices is well-documented. Given her communication with the CEO of a Leadership PAC affiliated with her husband, is it out of the question that Chao could be coordinating with the PAC on her husband’s behalf?

@glennkirschner2 @KatiePhang The PAC Chao’s been in contact with, Senate Leadership Fund, received $500,000 from Philip Anschutz, who successfully lobbied George W. Bush for a Tenth Circuit judgeship for his friend, Neil Gorsuch. One day later, McConnell shut down consideration for any Obama SCOTUS nominee. 
@glennkirschner2 @KatiePhang McConnell’s prohibited from coordinating with Senate Leadership Fund—whose CEO was a Chao Labor appointee and a McConnell legislative aide—by the FEC Act. Chao isn’t prohibited from such coordination. This is nepotism; Chao and McConnell are effectively an untouchable LLC.

@glennkirschner2 @KatiePhang On January 12, 2006, Anschutz sent White House Counsel Harriet Miers this letter, which suggested that his friend Neil Gorsuch would make an excellent choice for the Tenth Circuit. Although Gorsuch wasn’t on George W. Bush’s judicial nominee short list, he was appointed.
