For items as small as the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller it must pack a lot of complex sensors and input mechanisms. There is an accelerometer, gyroscope, infrared camera, 20+ buttons, and two control sticks, not to mention the touch screen on the Switch itself
Then, you might need to make sure all inputs are working correctly. It's a bit annoying if playing games becomes emotional because the controller has a problem.
This is the way to calibrate the control stick, motion control, and even test your buttons and touch screen.

To calibrate controllers, start by selecting "Settings" from the main menu.
Scroll down until you find "Controllers and Sensors". In this menu, you will see several options. We will start with "Calibrate Control Sticks". Select this option if the game does not accurately interpret the movements of the control stick.
Click the control stick that you want to calibrate. This screen will show a circle with cross hairs. When you don't touch the control stick, you will see a green plus sign. When you move the control stick, there will be a green dot.
Follow the instructions on the screen to move your control stick in each of the four directions indicated. Push the stick in the direction indicated, then release. Next, rotate your control stick in several circles along the edges of the fingers.
Remove all accessories from the controller and place the controller on a flat surface. The controller will calibrate itself after you put it down. After the calibration is complete, you will see a display. Source: shukanbunshun.com
Even though it's only for calibration that you can do yourself, you can test the buttons and touch screen to ensure that everything is functioning properly. Return to the Controllers and Sensors menu and select Test Input Devices.
You will see a screen like the one below. Tap anywhere on the screen and you will see a gray dot appear. Tap and follow the line interspersed by gray dots. Reference: kibezaka.com
If dots and lines match where you touch the screen, then it functions correctly. If it doesn't appear, or it appears in the wrong place, you might need to contact a Nintendo distributor or support.
The buttons and touch screen on the console may not experience problems unless there is damage to the main hardware. See: dofflzla.blogspot.com
It is possible that control sticks or motion controls may become inaccurate over time. Fortunately, the Switch is equipped with several tools to make the controller function again without much difficulty.
Thats all, if you want to ask me more questions just do it then. Would love to help u lot guys. Have a great day.
