THREAD: Throughout the #revolution, protesters have clearly opposed the effects of postwar #capitalism. However, we've still been raised and #socialized in a world dominated by this #neoliberal model, which breeds a distinct #counterrevolutionary culture. Some examples.⬇️

The western concept of "civility" has been used to undermine the revolution by claiming that those engaging in more violent forms of protests are ruining it.

When a system is inherently violent (starving, stealing, repressing, incarcerating), it's just a pathetic argument.

2/6
The lie that Hariri/IMF bailout is our sole solution for econ survival (which many believe) is directly from the neoliberal playbook: it erases alternative conceptions of progressive, equitable, autonomous socioeconomic models - convincing us neocolonialism is unavoidable.

3/6
The fact that elites adopted the demand for a "technocratic" gov. should push one to question what we're rlly asking for.

Technocrats à la zu3ama will lead (mostly) to a bunch of business elites with fancy (aka purchased) degrees that reproduce sectarian political economy.

4/6
Even loss of hope that many including myself feel is product of individualism & loneliness capitalism breeds.

We're made to forget strength lies in numbers, that there's a community behind us sharing our pain & that will fight with us. No revolution survives w/o solidarity.

5/6
There are many other examples that people can think of.

The important thing is to continue deconstructing and unlearning while opposing attempts at co-optation. Protesters come from diverse backgrounds, but its essential we protect the revolution's native radical elements.
