A brief analysis of @SadhguruJV's video on #CAA_NRC
In the beginning, he says "I even wondered have I missed something really? Bcz I havent read the Act fully, I only know it from newspapers & what's generally out there."
#IndiaSupportsCAA #IndiaDoesNotSupportCAA
He then states some facts: He says that after the partition of India "23% (of minorities) stayed back in West Pakistan and arnd 30% in East Pakistan (Bangladesh). Thats what people say...I am no expert but it can't be totally wrong." It is totally wrong (indiatoday.in/india/story/pa…)
Next up he says: In these countries there is discrimination against minority by law. He gives an example of how Hindus are not allowed to get married in Pakistan by following their own religion. Pakistan passed a law in 2017 to enable this. Read: bbc.com/news/world-asi…
By citing this example, he justifies CAA and said it is “too little compassion coming too late” because of the “atrocities” the Hindus have gone through.
Moving on, he says we cannot afford millions of people coming into India and that’s why some countries were chosen in the CAA. “The reaction in the country amazes me. Are we this hard-hearted that somehow for this reason...This bill is only focused on religious persecution” False
Next up: "Looking at the reactions on the streets, I was wondering did I miss something?" Yes baba, I think you missed reading the LAW.
Now bear with me. What he said next is mentioned in 2 parts: “It looks like govt was caught napping as they didnt expect such reaction for such a simple issue. They didnt put up enough police on streets so police got trashed really badly on streets....brutally.” (1/2)
"So when a few 1000 people cornered 25 policemen and thrashed them, naturally when bigger force comes they are going to do something...I am not justifying anything." Now it's worth asking: Am I missing something? Hold on. This isn't the most scandalous thing he has said so far.
Here is Baba's understanding of policing. Please do read the last sentence here "But I think they (police) didn't use their firepower. That's a lot of restraint otherwise people would have died in big numbers."
Baba is giving a lecture on CAA without reading the Act but is giving sermons to students terming them as "illiterate people" as, according to him, they haven't read the Act! Here:
Sadhguru adds: “It’s really sad that such a thing can happen and everybody is going through the rumours going around. Whatsapp is their source of knowledge. I hope they are not doing PhD. on Whatsapp.” No, he said this not for the right-wing but for the protesting students!
“Government has not been able to communicate this properly. The way it has been communicated, certain people perceive it as a threat to them. That must change.” This is closer to fact. He said “people took advantage” of it and “illiterate youth in universities went wild.”
And finally, Sadhguru mocked those who didn't have a range of documents to produce for the NRC. "Then who the hell are you?" he said. If people were able to produce three witnesses then "who the hell are you?" (Does it have ref. to Assam since NRC isnt nationwide yet?)
