Here is a thread on India's state & UT emblems. Corrections welcome!

1) Satyameva Jayate is from Mundaka Upanishad of Atharva Veda. Saranath Lions & SJ are common in emblems.

Exceptions - Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Sikkim, Nagaland, UP, Maharashtra, Lakshadweep & Chandigarh.

2) Andhra Pradesh has a Dharma Chakra or Wheel of Law.
Jharkhand and Lakshadweep too have similar wheels.

Lakshadweep islands have the additional butterfly fish.

3) Kerala has Vishnu's shankha. Elephants on side.

Sikkim has a Shankha.

Goa has Upanishad based emblem - Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu from Brihadaranyaka, Yajur Veda.

Maharashtra has a diya & Sanskrit Subhashita origin Raja mudra of Shivaji Maharaj - Pratipacchandra lekheva..

4) Punjab has two swords.

Uttar Pradesh state #emblem has a pair of Matsya fish and Bhagawan Shri Rama's bow and arrow representing Ayodhya.

5) Telangana's state #emblem is unique. It has Char Minar built during Muslim rule and also has Kakatiya Kala Toranam, a symbol of destruction during Muslim rule! Kakatiya toranam is an arch in Warangal of a magnificent Shiva temple, which was destroyed in 1323 CE.

6) Tamil Nadu's #emblem has Satyameva Jayate translated - Vaymaiye Vellum. It has the Gopuram of Srivilliputhur (or Madurai?) Devi temple.

Also TN is the only state with Indian flag on emblem. TN does not have Devanagari script, while neighbouring Karnataka has only Devanagari!

6) Bihar State's #emblem has the sacred Indian religious symbol of Swastika in it. Also, this is the only state with Urdu-only script in the emblem.

Haryana has a Lotus.

Jammu and Kashmir state also had a Lotus, but a new emblem would come for JK UT.

7) Arunachal Pradesh has a Mithun Bison and two Hornbill birds.

Nagaland also has a Mithun Bison.

Manipur features half-dragon and half-lion called Kangla-Sha.
Remember, Sikkim has two dragons.

8) Karnataka has a Ganda Bherunda, a mythical white bird with two heads. It also has two Sharabhas, said to be the strongest animals ever that held dharma, with lion's body and elephant's face.

Odisha's #emblem has the legendary Konark Sun temple's war horse.

9) Meghalaya is the only one with capital city's name on the #emblem.

Chandigarh has an open hand for peace.

West Bengal is the only state with a world map logo. Has a Bengali alphabet over it (earlier Banglarmukh logo had a beautiful female face in red bindi and veil).
