I will be on here all day tomorrow tweeting for #FreeThePeopleDay. I hope some of you will join me. There's nothing quite like ringing in the new yr by working in concert w other ppl who care to get ppl free -- ppl who are currently being caged bc they are poor and/or a migrant.
This will be my 3rd yr working on #FreeThePeopleDay. The ask we extend is that folks donate the cost of a NYE drink to a local bail fund, or more if they are able and moved to do so. At least $25K of those donations will be matched. Helping to push the hashtag is also a big deal.
.@prisonculture spontaneously created this event a few years ago, the night before NYE. The idea took off and folks have since raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to get people free.
One of the reasons I think #FreeThePeopleDay is special is that it addresses both standard pretrial detention and immigration detention -- which is also one of the reasons the @bailfundnetwork is special. These systems of cages are all part of the prison industrial complex.
@bailfundnetwork This story broke my heart. This man should never have been caged, but as resources get reshuffled, ppl who are left behind are tossed into a torturous disposal system. Bail funds are a way we fight for ppl while fighting the larger system #FreeThePeopleDay ksat.com/news/local/201…

We should all be paying attention to people who are organizing in prisons. In addition to them being human beings whose rights we ought to defend, they are the best example in this country of what it means to organize under fascistic conditions. We have a lot to learn from them.
And we have a lot to learn from how prison organizers manage to put animus aside to take on the oppressive system that's torturing and killing them.
Prison conditions in the U.S. are so bad that every year spent in prison knocks two years off your life expectancy. I don't think most people understand that. Prisons steal a lot of time. The prison industrial complex has lowed the overall U.S. life expectancy by five years.

A DNA registry for migrants. Imagine the ugly possibilities of having a marginalized group of people that large cataloged according to their DNA, and that catalog being in the hands of the state. I know folks are focused on Ukraine, but this is a whole thing.
We're talking about hundreds of thousands of people, including children. With evolving technologies, the potential surveillance applications of a massive DNA registry are ominous af.
And think about the normalization of that practice. Here, the mass collection of DNA is associated w the supposed criminality of immigrants in detention. On our current trajectory, the dragnet for criminalization in our society is just gonna keep getting wider. Worth considering.

The data we have (from @VividSeats) is truly incredible. In every county, we have a record of the share of concert/etc ticket sales that fall into each genre in 2015/19. Here's that map (with each county scaled for population). Cities like rap/hip hop. Rural areas like country.
The music genre that most correlates with Republican vote share is, as you might expect, country music. A preference for "New Age" music (whatever that is) and Rock are also "red". Rap, Hip Hop & R&B, as mentioned, are "blue" music—as is liking alternative artists or Latin music.

You could make a case for splitting the field between "UX Engineer" and "Frontend Infrastructure Engineer" maybe? But the skill sets would still be mostly overlapping
FE Infra would specialize in build tools and framework plumbing, UX would specialize in interaction design, but both groups fundamentally need to "get" the HTML, CSS, accessibility, etc

2/ pierwsza - prezydent powinien wydać postanowienie (art. 142 ust. 2 Konstytucji) stwierdzając przejście w stan spoczynku 10 sędziów. Tymczasem prezydent wysłał listy, w których pisze, że przeszli w stan spoczynku. List nie ma żadnego znaczenia, nie kreuje stanu prawnego.
3/ co ciekawe, listy wysłał również do tych sędziów, którzy powołali się na Konstytucję, wyrażając wolę dalszego urzędowania i nie dołączając zaświadczeń lekarskich. Co ciekawe, takiego listu nie wysłał do PSN Iwulskiego. Ten również stwierdził, że nie dołączy zaśw. lekarskiego.
