A rather 1-sided rah-rah piece from Scripps-Howard: "Now, the ERA only needs 1 more state...for ratification." The ERA died unratified decades ago, as the Supreme Court recognized in 1982. Neither Virginia nor Congress can resurrect the long-dead 1972 ERA.

The only constitutional route is to start over, with 2/3 votes in each house of Congress. If that occurred, the states would be presented with a new ERA--which could be the same language, or different language--to accept or reject. The role of Congress ends when sent to states. ImageImage

The Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, which advises the Executive Branch on major legal issues, today issued a 38-page opinion that the 1972 ERA is dead and cannot be resurrected by state legislatures or Congress. Further details will follow here at @ERANoShortcuts. Image
This opinion defines the position of the Executive Branch. It means that the Archivist of the United States may not certify the ERA as part of the Constitution, after Virginia submits "ratification" papers, because there has been no ERA actually before the states since 1979. Image

This was already addressed mid-thread. You do realize filing lawsuits costs money to the court, yes?

Not getting paid != going into the hole paying the court costs

The goat's still waiting...

There are a few options. Provide evidence he wasn't there or X wasn't there, or depose X and challenge X's credibility (history of lying, etc), or provide evidence X is lying (emails, texts, etc), or get on the stand to say "that's false" and pray

They're too dim to realize ppl find out about the GFMs *because* they were shared on Twitter

Thank you, Illinois! We need just ONE more state to ratify and we need Congress to do its part by passing S.J.Res. 5, which would immediately remove the arbitrary and unnecessary deadline for states to ratify the #ERA.
Most Americans are shocked to find out that the U.S. Constitution still lacks a provision ensuring gender equality. It's long past time to recognize the equality of women in the foundation document for U.S. law.
The 27th Amendment, which prohibited immediate congressional pay raises, was ratified after 203 years. There should be no deadline keeping America from recognizing women as equals under the law.
