The Senate voted 50-40 to prohibit an unauthorized military attack on Iran or its armed forces, with exceptions, in June. (The amendment failed because it needed 60 votes under the rules).

Below is the text of the amendment and the roll call:
No Democrat voted against the Udall amendment; Paul, Lee, Moran and Collins voted for it. Coons and 9 Rs didn't vote.

Looks like Democrats will try to make the lingering Trump-backed lawsuit seeking to overturn the entire ACA front-and-center in Senate races next year.

Manchin credits the suit in part with his reelection, but strategy didn't work everywhere: Hawley joined lawsuit & still won.
Issue could also put even more focus on SCOTUS, given ACA was saved twice before on 5-4 votes, and more seats could open up in next presidential term.
Congress could have nuked the suits with a single sentence tucked into a must-pass bill but -- hasn't.

NEW- Nearly 1 dozen organizations joined our amicus brief arguing that the #SCOTUS must reject Louisiana’s Act 620, an unconstitutional restriction on the right to access abortion care.

Our brief highlights the particularly harsh impact that the law would have on Black women.
States like Louisiana are adopting restrictions on abortion that will have a harsher impact on Black women.

61.2% of women who accessed abortions in Louisiana in 2018 were Black women.

Our brief provides a racial justice framework for understanding these latest attacks.
Act 620 imposes significant barriers to Black women’s ability to access abortion services. Because Black women are disproportionately low-income in Louisiana, they are half as likely to be able to travel between 25 and 50 miles for abortion care. @LawyersComm @DarielyEsq

BREAKING: #SCOTUS issues a stay of injunctions against Trump's transgender service ban, allowing the Trump administration to begin enforcing its ban while the case proceeds.
Justices Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan all would have denied the stay — meaning this was a 5-4 decision.

DOJ has gone to #SCOTUS to try to stop discovery in the transgender military ban case that is proceeding in Washington state. supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/18/1… (h/t @lawrencehurley)
@ZoeTillman @lawrencehurley The docket no. is 18A276, and the application was submitted to Chief Justice John Roberts, who is considering such applications out of the 9th Circuit currently (since Kennedy resigned).
Update —> DOJ withdrew its stay request at #SCOTUS regarding a discovery dispute in the ongoing Washington state-based challenge to Trump's transgender military ban because the 9th Circuit granted a stay.
