DOJ has gone to #SCOTUS to try to stop discovery in the transgender military ban case that is proceeding in Washington state. supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/18/1… (h/t @lawrencehurley)
@ZoeTillman @lawrencehurley The docket no. is 18A276, and the application was submitted to Chief Justice John Roberts, who is considering such applications out of the 9th Circuit currently (since Kennedy resigned).
Update —> DOJ withdrew its stay request at #SCOTUS regarding a discovery dispute in the ongoing Washington state-based challenge to Trump's transgender military ban because the 9th Circuit granted a stay.

BREAKING: Supreme Court denies the foreign country-owned company's request to stay a contempt order resulting from its refusal to comply with a grand jury's subpoena. Chief Justice Roberts' "administrative stay" is vacated, so the result is the contempt order is back in effect.
That order of the court follows this request, made Monday but put on the docket today, to file a cert petition in the case under seal. Not clear what will happen with that now, but the contempt order (and associated fines) will now be back in place.

With no noted dissents, #SCOTUS summarily denies stay sought by the unnamed, foreign government-owned corporation arising from a contempt citation for defying a grand-jury subpoena related to the Mueller investigation:

This is not a surprising result.
As a result, the accumulation of the contempt fine will resume—which should presumably put (increasing) pressure on the mystery foreign government-owned corporation to either comply with the subpoena or to otherwise cooperate with the Soecial Counsel in exchange for dropping it.
This doesn’t end the appeal; the mystery corporation can still ask #SCOTUS to take the case on the merits. But the denial of the stay (and the absence of any noted dissents) is a pretty strong signal that the Justices are inclined to sit this one out.

(We don't know which rulings are coming down today, just that there will be some. We're getting close to the end of term, which means probably at least one big one today.)
Nineteen cases left this term. Decisions are announced at 10 AM on pre-specified days. The term will almost certainly be over by the end of the month—twelve days from now.
