The US has eliminated the Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the commander of its Quds Force.

Soleimani is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers and civilians.
He was also directly responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people in countless terrorist acts and assassinations in countries like Argentina, the United States, India, Germany, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and more!
His "elimination" is not only justifiable by any moral standard, it is also an audacious US military action which, no doubt, designed to corner the already weakened Ayatollah regime in Iran in a brilliantly orchestrated catch 22.
If Iran over-reacts it may provoke a massive US retaliation which may spell the end for the enemy-ridden, weakened Ayatollah regime.

If Iran under-reacts or simply keep on doing what it did all along, the weakness of the Ayatollah regime will be exposed for all; most notably to
its Shiite militia allies in the middle east.

The elimination of a high ranking officer of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, second in power only to Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, corners Iran and forces it out of the old game board it created
with numerous low intensity armed conflicts across the Middle East, into a new game, with rules set by the US, and where the stakes are much higher.
Throwing mortifying threats for retaliation is an old Iranian tactics. Nevertheless, it is important to contextualise these threats and not play into them like some of the voices heard in the past hours.
The Ayatollah regime of Iran is in a real and disadvantageous deadlock and the US have the upper hand.
