Japanese prosecutors charge the wife of fugitive CEO Carlos Ghosn for lying to investigators in April 2019.
She alegedly lied about meeting an unnamed person. Anyone have any clues who this person is? #ButNothingsHappening

There was media coverage of her being questioned, but I haven't found anything to indicate who the unnamed person was that she lied about not talking to.

News reports say she gave information that would lead to his acquital. But his flight & her arrest warrant indicate those were false information. Seems it may have involved some money laundered to her business to buy a yacht...
A $14 million yacht that may have been bought with money laundered from Nissan to Carole Ghosn's British Virgin Islands shell company in a tax haven...
Allegedly, Ghosn had Nissan pay an Omani distributor $15M of which $5M went to his investment company in Lebanon & then to his wife's shell company.
So fled the country, came back to lie to the court & prosecutors to exonerate her husband, & now wanted for those lies....

Seems Obama's auto-czar offered Ghosn a deal making twice what he made as CEO & Chairman of Nissan Renault.

Part of the reason that he passed is that Nissan-Renault were trying to work a deal to merge with Chrysler. Which eventually merged with Fiat.

Google parent company Alphabet closes its off-shore tax avoidance scheme. It allowed them to stash profits in tax havens to avoid paying US taxes on the money.
Wonder if there will soon be an SEC or DOJ settlement for past conduct?

This involves declaring a foreign division of a company as the owner of 'intellectual property'. Then skimming off the profits to that division as 'payment' for the other divisions of the company using the product or service. Paying taxes at the rate charged in the other nation.
High corporate tax rates in the US encourage companies to divert their profits & tax dollars to countries with lower rates & park it in a tax haven. So US companies have stashed over $1T in tax havens to avoid paying $350B in taxes on the money.

Carlos Ghosn reportedly fled house arrest in Japan in a musical instrument case, in an audacious Hollywood movie-style escape masterminded by his wife, Carole, with the assistance of a Gregorian music band and a team of ex-special forces officers.
The escape began when the band arrived at his home in Tokyo, where Ghosn has been held under house arrest and strict police surveillance, according to Lebanese TV news channel MTV.
At the end of the performance, as the musicians packed up their instruments, Ghosn apparently slipped into one of the larger cases and was taken to a small local airport.

Nearly as soon as the CIO organized northern plants in the 1930s and 1940s, they became frightened at what would happen if they did not organize the nation. Companies could simply pick up and move factories to non-union states.
In fact, the textile industry had already escaped unionization by moving South by the time the United Auto Workers came to being. What better way to escape those pesky workers wanting rights than moving to where no socialism would thrive--rural Appalachia.
