Seems Obama's auto-czar offered Ghosn a deal making twice what he made as CEO & Chairman of Nissan Renault.

Part of the reason that he passed is that Nissan-Renault were trying to work a deal to merge with Chrysler. Which eventually merged with Fiat.
Ghosn is claiming not taking the GM job proves he isn't greedy! But that is if you consider his official salary only. At Nissan he was taking kickbacks sufficient to pay for a $15M yacht through his wifes business.

Now the fact that Ghosn was trying to merge Nissan with Chrysler while being offered the GM CEO job is interesting. Fiat got Chrysler & then proceeded to work with UAW to screw over GM in labor negotiations which lead to this RICO case against them!
After all of the mergers did not go through with the US automakers Nissan-Renault then entered into an alliance with Ghosn taking over Mitsubishi also. But when that proved to not be enough, he started talks to merge with a Chinese automaker...
The UAW racketeering case is also involving criminal charges based on FBI investigations that started 5-6 years ago. Including a UAW executive who Obama's bail out put on the board of GM while also handling UAW negotiations with GM & getting bribed by FIAT
