Reasonable people can disagree on whether there was another option other than killing Soleimani, but to claim he was "assassinated" without "any" evidence of imminent danger, just doesn't hold water unless you're arguing the embassy wasn't stormed and rockets weren't flying.

Soleimani ran Muhandis, and Muhandis ran the top, most culpable Shi'ite militia in Iraq.

Honestly, if you really think Soleimani could've been meeting "again" against sanctions with Muhandis in Iraq for peace talks, then you'd be eaten alive in the Middle East.

Personally, I support authorizations for the use of force and declarations in the event of war. But this isn't about whether Trump had the authority, it's about Trump.

He killed a dangerous terrorist. He didn't wage a Libya-like war.
