In a gut-wrenching incident, a stray dog bit and killed minutes before born infant in private hospital’s operation theatre in Farrukhabad city. The incident took place at around 8:30 am on Monday in Awas Vikas Colony based Akash Ganga hospital 1/5

,when a private finance company employee Ravi Kumar came to the hospital with his pregnant wife Kanchan who was going through labour pain. Ravi Kumar said, “Initially the hospital nursing staff informed us that a normal delivery would be conducted, 2/5

but moments later after consulting doctor, they told us that my wife had go for caesarean operation. They took her in OT and one hour later, they informed us that operation was successful and took Kanchan in ward, while baby was still in OT. They told me wait outside.”3/5

“Few minutes later, hospital staff came out shouting about a dog presence in OT. Sensing danger for my kid, I rushed into OT and saw my baby lying on floor which was covered in blood. My baby had dog bit marks on his right chest and left eyes. 4/10

He was lying still with no movement. The dog again attempted to enter into OT while I screamed for help for my kid,” said Ravi Kumar, who became father for the first time.

He said, “I confronted doctors and hospital staff for the inhumane treatment and negligence, 5/10

but instead of feeling guilty they offered me money to remain silent about the incident. They told me that my baby was stillborn and dog entered into OT by mistake.”

Deputy CMO Rajeev Shakya who probe the matter on district magistrate Manvendra Singh orders, said,6/10

that hospital accepted that dog indeed attack the baby and attempted to take it. After the incident, Farrukhabad police lodged a FIR against hospital owner Vijay Patel and other staff members under IPC section 304A (death by negligence). 7/10

District magistrate Manvendra Singh confirms that the baby was not stillborn, he was alive. Our probe found that, due to negligence of the hospital, the dog took away the baby and killed him. A committee comprising of doctors and others has been formed under city magistrate, 8/10

who will investigate as how many illegal private hospitals are running in Farrukhabad. The report would be submitted in three days to me, to take further action. 9/10

Back in 2017 Sept after 49 infants died in Farrukhabad district hospital, I did some investigation & found, as how private hospitals, clinics, and touts were responsible for deaths of those who were yet to open their eyes to see this world.
