Unpopular opinion:

Most people (men and women) would rather have some chickens, tend to a garden and hang out with their kids as opposed to sitting in a cubicle all day.
I don’t know what’s better. Sun on your back, fresh air, the sound of kids running around, or hunched over your desk, fluorescent lights beaming on your head and some sociopath yelling at you about the TPS reports.
We need to start asking the big questions.

Is our modern lifestyle vastly overrated?

Should we be supporting this facade of bullshit jobs and corporate despair so nominal GDP growth can expand again next year?

What actually leads to human happiness?

It ain’t this.

Unpopular opinion:

Big companies want Washington D.C. to create legislation for their industries vs. different laws at the state and local level.

I prefer the opposite. Different laws at the state and local level make monopolies and concentrations of power harder to solidify.
Not everything should be about efficiency and convenience. At this point in time it's more crucial to empower and restore communities across the country than it is to make everything a hyper-efficient homogeneous blob.
We've destroyed the country by allowing the pendulum to swing too far in one direction. Hollowed out communities of despair with a Walmart, Dollar Stores, Amazon boxes on the porch and opioids.

We need to focus on empowering and releasing the energy in communities across the USA

Quick mini-thread on contemporary notions of individualism and how I think it's gone completely off the reservation.
Many seem to see individualism primarily as creating the space for an individual of certain talent and ambition to become as wealthy and powerful as possible, as opposed to focusing on a framework or structure that empowers as many individuals as possible (my view).
This is a huge error in judgement and perspective in my opinion. If your focus is the former you end up with what we have today, an unaccountable oligarchy. If you focus on the latter, you can have a society of relatively empowered, free and content people.

This poll is important. It shows financial professionals and others who track this stuff (his followers) don’t have a handle on billions being thrown around. This is a major indictment of the system. Absurdly complex, intentionally opaque and a perfect vehicle for corruption.
Unelected central bankers throwing around billions upon billions gets almost no scrutiny, while impeachment theater dominates mass media 24/7. Which of these deserves more scrutiny?
This is how the public gets scammed. Look over here, while we loot the system quietly here.
I know this much. When central bankers do this sort of thing some people/connected institutions benefit tremendously from it financially. It is state-sanctioned looting using the monetary system and it’s been happening consistently since 2008/9. Wealth transfer to parasites.

Ok Cupid looks at how men and women rate each other's looks and then message.

Based on hypergamy belief we'd expect 80% of women to message best looking 20% of males.

We'd expect men to contact women with equivalent looks to them.

What did data show?
3/ When it came to profiles women did indeed rate men unfavourably (grey dotted line) whereas men were much more balanced in how they rated women.

#BUT and this is where the hypergamy narrative falls apart ....

1 like = 1 good thing from my experience growing up Seventh-day Adventist
1) We had a food called haystacks that was a delicious customizable taco-stack. Start with a base of chips, add beans, cheese, lettuce, and any number of other delicious toppings and sauces. Great potluck food because everyone could bring an ingredient.
2) I have four+ close friends that I've known since gradeschool, a couple of them from first grade. We all went to the same church school so we got to know each other very well over many years.

I really don’t know what to say. I spend every shift talking with & working with my struggling neighbors. They don’t need more police. They need everything else.
Some ask what’s the ‘solution’ to social/individual crises like homelessness. My thought is there is no solution & the mindset that there is ‘one’ is the main impediment. It simply requires massive day to day work. & If we can fund the F-35 we sure as hell can fund our neighbors
For me, i guess I embrace a unpopular truth, that our task force-czar next-big-thing immediate-results-only mindset is not just not helping, it’s making social issues much worse. Every day do everything to avoid making other people’s lives worse & then work on making them better
