This morning I must tell you of a whole ass eye opening experience I had, a thread!

I’m on the phone last night talking to someone I’ve presumably never spoken to before. A woman 10 years my senior. The conversation turns to the history of the
historical black neighborhood here. I was talking about how that neighborhood was destroyed by the local government in the 1950s as were many around the country. She says to me in this crazy voice, “those f**king blacks...” (you know it wasn’t a capital B when she said it).
She continued, “those blacks are just lying and too sensitive. No government put a highway thru their precious neighborhood because they’re Black, that’s such bullshit, I’m so tired of them and turning this country into trash...” it went on, my stomach was dropping.
She continued, “they did that all over the country because of GAS LINES...” And then this came out....

“Aren’t you sick of the blacks too?”

So now...as my mind was literally trying to figure out what to do, what to say, how to react, because this is a new one for me, I
Started spouting out facts, I said how do you explain literally moving the way (to nowhere) over only enough to destroy and displace 2000 families and homes, over 300 businesses for gas lines? That’s...I’m still shocked. I went on about the fact that most unexplainable city
Blunders, or what we say are blunders today we’re done exactly because of racism, period.

So I go on my little rant because I’m still so confused about what she said previously.

Then the Gems start falling. I said ya know I don’t just make movies. I am dedicating myself
To speaking around the world on communities, equity in city planning, making a better world for all of us, I’m here to check every gate keeper there may be to making cities for all, bridging rural and urban, etc.

She goes, “God you sound like that BLACK PANTHER DESIGNER who
Came here last year talking to our local politicians about THE CITY, she was, at least, interesting...but WRONG!

I said, I AM HER! Whew Chile! The silence, the back peddling.

SHE THOUGHT I WAS A WHITE WOMAN ON THE PHONE!
After she realized that she actually took a picture with me at that event where she was so very “WOKE” and that everything she said previously she said to a Black Woman, she became my “BFF” and down for Black people, causes, etc. She talked about her Black friends
and her experiences fighting for truth and justice etc.

This, this is the truth of it all! This is how people operate against marginalized peoples, this is a real time example of it. She was wholeheartedly ready to say Black people are just whiney, sensitive, liars that
should be grateful and need nothing more than what they have. But when she knew who I was the story was different. This is why our neighborhoods won’t change, this is why there will be no equality and equity, because this is the truth. Be warned when throwing
your weight behind a candidate, or anyone that is suppose to be making a difference in the lives of minorities. What would they say to you about you if they thought you were white.

I’d love to hear @michaelharriot thoughts on this. Also I never called her out, I never
got angry, did not read her. I let her stew in that, I’ll let her anxiety and paranoia deal with it. Peace, love and resistance.
