Tonight, we record our final episode. And today is @JoshMalina's birthday. So I'm feeling a little sentimental (even more than usual), and looking back at some photos from along the way. Here's the first picture of us together, from 2012. Josh organized a meet-up via Twitter.
Later that year, I organized a charity game night event, and Josh agreed not only to participate but to put together a team for it. Here we are on stage, with Josh's team of Michael Ian Black, Rob Delaney, Sara Silverman, and Rich Sommer. (I'm behind Rich Sommer's arm.)
The event went so well that we decided to pitch it as a TV show—and we sold it! Here we are in Jan 2014, after taping the pilot. My first time meeting @BradleyWhitford. The show didn't go to series, but we still own it, so if any TV execs want to greenlight it…we're available.
The TV show process was tough for me, as someone who came from DIY/punk music and was used to just being able to make things yourself. A year and a half later, with the show's fate still unknown, I pitched TWWW to Josh over email.
A few days later, my friend Jada Yuan ran into Aaron Sorkin at an event, and I somehow managed to get her to take this picture of him WITH the picture of me + Josh + Brad. Technically, it was a photo of all of us together. She wrote about it in Vulture: vulture.com/2015/10/which-…
We did an interview for Weekend Edition a few days before the first episode came out.
Our first guest: @DuleHill!
Oh, right! we took a "promo photo" in the parking lot of NPR by putting my camera on Josh's car and setting the auto-timer.
More guests: Peter Smith & William Duffy, Bradley Whitford, Tommy Schlamme, Emily Procter.
Josh brought me along to see @AllisonBJanney get her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
We did our first live taping three years ago (Jan 15) in SF. @BradleyWhitford joined us again. Here we are, backstage.
It's pretty fun getting to be stuck in a room with these two. As you know.
BTW, Josh and I sometimes do Escape Rooms.
Once, Josh and I accidentally showed up to a taping with @EliAttie (our wonderful, most frequent guest) both wearing our new WWW shirts. Not cool, man.
Live at the Ace Theatre in 2017. We'll be there tonight, once again, for our finale.
Live in SF with @maffyfitz + @AllisonBJanney + Aaron Sorkin.
With Martin Sheen! Martin's wife Janet made the t-shirt that Josh is wearing. And she made him put it on for this photo.
We've gotten to travel around the world together. It's been the most fun journey, and I hope The West Wing Weekly's ending isn't the end of it. Happy birthday, @JoshMalina.
