the interesting thing about this is that enjoyment is a skill

if you're skilled at enjoyment, you can enjoy things that other people can't

skilled critics can actually guide people's attention, provide scaffolding frames, and help people enjoy things more
if you have a sense of vision, historicity, and taste...

you can actually find ways to get something out of pretty much everything, even media that everyone else says is terrible

you can find riffs & motifs you like, focus on those elements, & draw from them into your own work
at that point, "is this movie good or bad" becomes an almost laughably simplistic and reductive

is Taxi Driver a good movie? I didn't ~love~ watching it, but I could recognize what was artful about it. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. It depends on your frame, your context

the schoolboy game of Is This Worthy or Unworthy is itself kind of an insult to art IMO

rather, every creative act should be appreciated as an opportunity for dialogue and further exploration

I wouldn't call any of these Bad Movies (lots of people think Arrival is a Good Movie and I respect that!), I just hoped for more. I can imagine having interesting conversations with the ppl who made these
^ oh interestingly after watching Frozen 2 I now kinda like Frozen 1 on retrospect. I mean, it could have been better (which Frozen 2 was). Which is in fact a nice example of how new things can change the value of old things. Nothing is permanent, almost everything can change
