And yet, the FBI headquarters are named after the guy who grossly violated MLK's constitutional rights and used their spying on him to try to convince him to commit suicide.
There's no way the FBI can convince us they care about our civil liberties by continuing to honor the enormously corrupt J. Edgar Hoover who indiscriminately violated those rights.
FBI: "We need crypto backdoors. Trust us, we won't abuse them".
Also FBI: "J. Edgar Hoover was a great man who created our organization".

I don't believe this Reuters story that Apple dropped pans for encrypted backups because FBI. Encrypted backups are a useability nightmare that means customers would lose data.

A "backup" is what you resort to after some catastrophic failure, such as losing your phone and forgetting your password. Without encryption, Apple can still recover your data. With encryption, it's no longer a backup, and your data is lost.
I don't know how to have an encrypted iCloud backup that is truly a backup in case of catastrophic failure. Maybe some cryptographer out there knows how to do this, if so, they can explain it to me and prove me wrong, and I'll gladly retweet them in this thread.

There is a clear parallel here, @ggreenwald is being accused of roughly the same thing as Assange, that they "directly assisted, encouraged and guided" getting the leaks they published.
@ggreenwald When it's them, it's obvious that Brazil is a corrupt government prosecuting leaks showing their corruption.

When it's us, the situation is more nuanced and complex.
@ggreenwald I think there's objective evidence that it really is more nuanced. That Assange's prosecution happens under both Obama and Trump show that our prosecutors really are acting independently rather than pressured from the top.

1. Let me drop my views about #Suicide.
Personally, I feel hurt whenever I hear or read about it. What comes to my heart is that "something is not right somewhere". And that "something need to be done". However, I'm sure the victim can overcome it. #Suicide
2. But what exactly is #Suicide? What is it all about? "Suicide simply means taking one's life intentionally." Of course, there are factors that leads to it. Such as depression, disappointments, sickness, loss of job, hopelessness and some related factors. #Suicide
3. There are other psychological factors too that can lead to #Suicide. But I have to say this, no matter the factor in which one is being entangled with, such can surly overcome. Taking one's life shouldn't be an option. #Suicide
