Setting expectations. These Republican senators do not want a fair trial. But in the end, that’s OK. Here’s why

They were going to acquit anyway. Sure, I want the American people to see all of the evidence not rushed in in the midnight hours.

But remember. These are the people who voted in Brett Kavanaugh to a lifetime position on the Supreme Court without a full investigation of the sexual assault allegations. Who did not have the FBI speak with Mark Judge. Who did not care to know who had paid off his debts.

We took the disappointment to the voting booth and flipped the house. This is what democracy looks like.

They will disappoint us again. And we will react again. In the voting booths in 2020.

Of course, the difference here, is that Brett Kavanaugh has an appointment for life.

But life is finite.

In contrast, impeachment is forever.

Impeachment is forever. Impeachment outlasts an acquittal. Impeachment survives beyond 2020. It will outlive the president. Impeachment will stick beyond the grave to his legacy until the end of time when words are recorded. Until the sun explodes and the earth is no more.
