1. Well, by lying to the Senate and the Chief Justice, Pat Cippolone has raised a question about the integrity of @Kirkland_Ellis: Did he learn his dishonesty when he was a partner there? Or did it come from his firm Stein, Mitchell, Cipollone, Beato & Missner? Given that....
@Kirkland_Ellis 2...Stein, Mitchell were all over "Filegate" & Monica Lewinsky scandal, it is clear what they traffic in. Is his big client @Sony Entertainment comfortable with their lawyer lying to Senators and the Chief Justice? Does Sony, in fact, depend on Cippolone's lies for court cases?..
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 3....I guess lots of companies like having liars as their lawyers, but I would have thought better of @Sony. Ah well...everything Trump touches, even at a distance, dies. Welcome to the wreckage, Sony. Cippolone put you there.

But again, he was also a partner at Kirkland. Did...
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 4...he learn dishonesty there? Well, Kirkland has had quite a number of ethical problems, as have some partners. In 2006, former partner Robert Wayne Hallock pleaded guilty to committing a $1 mill federal tax fraud by selling bogus certificates of deposit. Apparently undeterred..
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 5.... by Mr. Hallock’s fate, the former senior partner, Theodore Freeman, pleaded guilty in 2013 to committing a tax fraud of $2,000,000.

The firm itself also had, umm, issues. In In Re: Capital Trust Holdings the US Trustee found Kirkland’s tried to significantly overbill a...
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 6... bankrupt estate. Indeed, the trustee concluded that the majority of Kirkland’s work during the period for which it sought compensation involved calculating how much it intended to bill. Seriously. As the trustee wrote: “An inordinate amount of the fees and expenses....
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 7..sought in the 2d Interim Application relate to the process of obtaining compensation. Indeed, 52% of the hours worked & 46% of the fees incurred during the 2nd Interim Time Period are attributable to obtaining compensation for K&E or other estate professionals” ....
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 8...The trustee also stated that Kirkland sought compensation for expenses that were not properly reimbursable, and did not provide the necessary information to determine whether other expenses and fees were legitimate.

Oh, it doesn't stop there....
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 9.... A 2009 draft analysis compiled by professors from UCLA & Harvard law schools, concluded K&E, among others, routinely engaged in “professional fee practices that violate the Bankruptcy Code and Rules" The study, “Routine Illegality in Bankruptcy Court Fee Practices”...
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 10... specifically cited Kirkland’s activities during its 2002 work on what was at the time the third largest bankruptcy in history, involving Conseco.

Oh, it doesn't stop there. In 1998, Kirkland got slapped by two courts for overbilling in a drawn-out, nine-year case....
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 11...involving the estate of George S.``Mugs``Halas Jr. As The Chicago Tribune said in an October 18, 1988 article about the case, “(t)here has been at least one accusation of fee-gouging. That involved the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis.”

No, not done yet....Kirkland was sued...
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 12...not long ago by its client Mylan Inc. for improperly acting against Mylan's interests for the sole benefit of Kirkland’s lawyers. As the pharmaceutical company’s trusted legal advisor, Kirkland was provided with access to wide-ranging corporate strategies, financials...
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 13...and other secrets. However, in what the lawsuit depicted as a direct violation of the code of ethics, Kirkland turned around and represented one of Mylan’s competitors, Teva Pharmaceuticals, in an attempt to acquire the parent company of its original client, Mylan....
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 14..it goes on for a lot more, but why I am doing this?

Because i am SICK of lawyers like Pat Cippolone standing up and lying. I am sick of law firms that lie. I am sick of so many lawyers feeling comfortable screwing their clients and, in this case, the country.....
@Kirkland_Ellis @Sony 15...so: Any firm that hires Cipollone after he leaves the white house needs to be examined closely, & have its history of dishonesty determined, because if they're comfortable with a man who lies to the Senate, no telling how much they're screwing their clients and America.
