[THREAD] Some of the complaints about this game annoy me. Aren’t you the same people who complain that certain players never get rested, and that other are never given a chance?

This is exactly what Setien is doing - experimenting. These early CdR rounds are his pre-season.

This is where he gets answers to questions like:
a) Can Griezmann play as traditional ‘9’ in this system?

b) Can Frenkie operate as a lone pivot in this system?

c) Are Ansu, Perez, Puig ready to contribute?

d) Can Rakitic excel in this system, or should we perhaps sell him?

e) Can Semedo operate as the lone wide player down the right flank? Is he a consistent enough attacking threat?

f) Can Roberto and Firpo do a job at CB if need be?

Any proper coach should experiment.

Setien’s job is even harder because he was appointed midseason and is incorporating a whole new system to a team full of big egos who have lacked accountability and tactical discipline for 2+ years.

Do I think all his questions were answered tonight? No. He will likely experiment further in the coming weeks.

But do I think he now has a much better idea on what these players can/can’t do, and what this team needs in reinforcements and on the training ground? YES.

This will not be an easy or quick process. There shouldn’t be any half measures taken.

This teams needs deep cleansing emotionally, tactically, & physically (as in some player have to go) from years of mismanagement.
