The presidency is not a magic wand that will solve Nigeria's problems overnight.

As pmb will have discovered, it takes a lot of creativity, discipline, dialogue, patience and ruthlessness to be the president.

Lagos has been under the unbroken leadership of one man for 20+ years
What are the metrics in Lagos for:

Education
Healthcare
Employment
Security etc?

I'm not a hater of BAT. I respect the man. He is an amazing politician

But being an astute reader of the public pulse is not the same as being president of Nigeria, with all its attendant pitfalls
Nigeria will not become utopia in 8 years of anyone's rule in the nearest future.

Our development will be gradual.

But it must be purposeful and disciplined.

Even pmb who is detested by many politicians has only received one minister's resignation since 2015 (he hasn't sacked
any)

How will BAT handle politicians from all over the country, many of who don't have direct political ties to him?

Will he be strict, and risk unpopularity, or lenient (to Nigeria's detriment) and maintain the good books of everyone?

GEJ tried to do the latter. See where it
got him.

No one in Nigeria (in the democratic dispensation) has ever sought for the presidency and gotten it out of personal ambition

Tafawa Balewa was the deputy of Ahmadu Bello

Ironsi never asked to be C in C

Gowon had it thrust on his lap

Obasanjo didn't ask for it either
In 1976 or 1999

IBB and Abacha were probably the only soldiers who fulfilled their ambition through the barrel of a gun.

Yar'adua was gifted the presidency by OBJ

GEJ too by extension received from OBJ's bounty

PMB is probably the only civilian president who sought & won the
Presidency of Nigeria.

In my view, Nigeria's next president doesn't yet know himself (sadly it doesn't seem we are yet prepared for a female president)

Whatever the case, it will take discipline & the risk of making many powerful enemies for anyone to successfully be president
In my own view, BAT can play a strong role in selecting presidents.

But I don't believe he will ever be Nigeria's president.
