I've been teasing this for a while as I worked out the details, but... my new Kickstarter is live! I'm raising money to release a second physical collection of my short stories. Read the details here.

My previous collection was fully funded in under two days, so this time I'm being a little more ambitious. More elaborate cover, international shipping.
I'm using Backerkit to handle some aspects of fulfillment, including shipping charges. This means your shipping cost is not included in your pledge, but it also means it will be more accurate and not restricted to the United States.
Very excited by this one. The cover painting is just gorgeous.
Just under an hour since it went live and little more promo than these tweets, and we're 10% funded.

I was a bit nervous about setting the time limit at 30 days instead of 60, even with the previous one's near immediate success. But this is reassuring.kickstarter.com/projects/alexa…
Hardest thing about a new project being up is resisting the urge to camp the page and refresh it, but at the two hour mark we're past 20% funded.

Which is honestly great just for the first day. Thank you everyone!

Why do I use Kickstarter for my story collections?

- It lets me afford a professional painting for the cover instead of stock photos.

- It serves as a pre-order mechanism.

- Helps build hype.

- If I am very lucky and very good, it can serve as something of an advance.

Big question, so I'm making a new thread.

I do not, and I don't think it's possible, short-term.

And part of that effect is Trump and part of it is his base and part of it is the way the media and electorate have been tuned by the GOP for decades.

Part of it is that Trump just does not care and will not stop until someone stops him. In many cases, PHYSICALLY. Stuff "sticks" to politicians because they acknowledge it, if not in the sense of "Yes, that's true. I resign." but they... pull back. Grow cautious.
"The Access Hollywood Tapes would have ended most politicians' campaigns." is an almost invisible use of passive construction. The truth is: most politicians would have ended their campaigns, figuring it's better to do it on their terms and cut their losses than fight and lose.

My biggest problem with the "Trump is petrified of running against Biden" narrative is something I alluded to yesterday when talking about Bernie in the general election:

The GOP hate machine will do this to whoever the opponent is. With the same force and fervor.
When the opponent is not a respectable older white male, we get people who start saying "Gee, this person has so many unfavorables. Maybe we should find a candidate with fewer weak points."

When it's someone like Biden, it becomes, "The enemy is terrified. Good."
And that right there is a weakness in how we view the field. It shows our bias as an electorate, that the exact same behavior BY THE GOP (not the candidate) is viewed as a strength for a white man and a weakness for anyone else.

Donald's 1st appearance, as a scene-stealing supporting actor in this Silly Symphony cartoon. He is paired w/Peter Pig, who will never have a role this good again. DD becomes an instant star, while Peter is demoted to background player
I think they know they have something here; they save Donald's intro for last, and give him a great entrance.

Also, WLH's singing voice is perfect, and Peter Pig's speaking voice is a true nightmare. You can feel his cartoon career ending the moment he opens his mouth.

1. The GOP Lacks Strategic Courage - here is my take on #Release the Memo
Once again Trumpians were left holding the bag and having to do a clean-up in aisle 5.
2. The GOP yet again over promised and under delivered. Frustratingly this was not for a lack of information or Democratic malfeasance but from the complete mismanagement by the GOP.
3. The GOP lacks strategic courage to do what needs to be done. The GOP twists itself to accommodate & appease the DNC. The Senate Intelligence Committee took the political scandal of the century and distilled it down into a weak & mealy-mouthed critique of the FBI FISA process.
