@globeandmail What fails to get addressed here, although you hinted around the edges of it, is the Native Council of Canada (now CAP) is who got Metis into the constitution of 1982, MNC wasn't even an organization until 1983 and incorporated in 1984. The Metis definition that the NCC had was 
not exclusionary as the MNC's and the NCC which is now CAP still has a different definition than the 2002 one that the MNC is now sticking with, after having several different definitions over the years. That is concerning to me and should be a real eye opener to others. How does

The MNC broke away from the NCC in 1983, during the constitution talks. They were concerned that they were not getting their Metis concerns met in the the pan aboriginal group of NCC. However that doesn't negate the fact in the slightest that it was NCC who got Metis into the
constitution. NCC has publicly said many times in many written news articles as well as RCAP reports that they have a different definition of Metis than the MNC. So who gave MNC this national mandate to represent nationally when they choose not to.
