I recently retweeted a post from David Felton (@doritosyndrome) that really resonated with me. He wrote: Telling people “I work in advertising”: -Not actually very impressive. – No one cares. – People find ads annoying. 1/9
@doritosyndrome Telling people “I make brands famous for money”: - Sounds much cooler. – Understated rebelliousness. – You’re basically Don Draper. David’s tweet not only made me think, it also made me smile. 2/9
@doritosyndrome And I think it’s quite relevant as we kick-off February, because the first Sunday of the month my beloved Miami will be hosting the Super Bowl LIV, the 54th Super Bowl and the 50th modern-era National Football League (NFL). 3/9
@doritosyndrome Miami will be hosting its 11th Super Bowl, and its first since 2010, which as you can imagine is a big deal for our city. This event will definitely have a Latin flavor to it, as in addition to the eclectic local demographic, 4/9
@doritosyndrome both J Lo and Shakira will be the stars of the always spectacular Pepsi Half Time Show (shameless plug to our dear client ; )

And while I’m not precisely your typical football fan (I do love with a passion the other fútbol), I have a special bond with the event because it’s 5/9
@doritosyndrome probably one of the very few occasions in which the craft of advertising garners as much attention as the game itself (in my case far more!).
It’s a huge investment for advertisers, but to Felton’s tweet, it’s a magnificent scenario “to make brands famous” 6/9
@doritosyndrome in this case for a lot of money. Advertisers are paying up to $5.6 million for 30 seconds of commercial time during the Super Bowl. Prices during the 2019 game reached as high as $5.3 million! 7/9
@doritosyndrome I really look forward to this Super Bowl in particular because if all the excitement wasn’t enough, I got invited for the first time in my career, to be a panelist judge for the USA Today Ad Meter. 8/9
@doritosyndrome So this time around I’ll be paying even more attention to the ads, which makes me incredibly proud of what I do for a living. #GameOn #TheGameOfAdvertising 9/9
