CR's AC LOCAL TRAIN TODAY! More discipline, but more crowd in rush hour. The Air Conditioned EMU local at Thane this morning had only ticketed passengers. However, the crowding on island platform increased. @mid_day 
The train was empty and overflowing crowd on platforms on either side, which could not get in. @Central_Railway has not promoted the train as they should have.
A few quick solutions that can be done...The 9:09 am Vashi train prior to AC EMU has 3 compartments reserved for women. This adds to more crowding on the island platform. This can be undone. This traib arrives on pf 10 before AC EMU. There is another 914am one that comes on pf9.
The station infra at Thane is in bad state with bridges half-demolished and half working. This needs to be fixed asap.
The csmt-end footbridge can be given an additional landing at south-end. There is space and not much crowding on platform at that end, being the extreme end.
This if possible.. To avoid crowding on thane trans-harbour island platform, a spare rake at south end yard can be kept ready. In case ac emu gets detained, blocking other trains enroute from vashi or panvel, this rake can be brought into use to thin out crowd on platforms.
The trans-harbour platform has erratic announcements, overlapping and sometimes irrelevant. As passengers await the minutest detail of their local train, the station announcements welcome passengers from Sinhagad Exp.
The problem @RailMinIndia is that no senior officer or those who can take spot decisions from @Central_Railway team has ever visited the platform in crowding to witness the AC EMU and its operations. TMS, CCTV will not reveal much.
