May had been asking me whether Isha encroached forest lands. IMO this is deviating from actual issue. Read full thread

Isha didNOT build on forest dept lands as such but it VIOLATED rules in other ways

Old Satellite image & map show that it was not forest but revenue land
Inorder to protect out environment, we had framed laws to secure permissions from necessary authorities. Since it was farmland and since it came under Hill Area Conservation Authority, necessary permissions were to be secured from respective offices
In their webpage, Isha says that they secured permission to construct statue on Sep - Nov 2016. But prior to securing permission itself they started constructing. Attached #Satellite images from Jan & Feb 2016 show that construction had already started before securing permission

.@NASA confirms that the dent in #Earth’s protective shield is splitting into two as it gets bigger - by @pabsgill…
The bigger the anomaly gets the wider its sphere of influence. A weak magnetic field means that the particle radiation from the #Sun gets closer to the #Earth’s surface than otherwise.
In addition to messing with compasses and throwing bird navigation off, this means it can also knock out onboard computers and interfere with satellites on their rounds to collect data.

BREAKING: @US_SpaceCom accuses #Russia of conducting "non-destructive test of a space-based anti-satellite weapon"

Per @US_SpaceCom, the July 15 test was similar to one by #Russia in 2017

@SpaceForceCSO calls it "further evidence of Russia's continuing efforts ...consistent w/the #Kremlin's published military doctrine to employ weapons that hold US & allied space assets at risk"
Latest anti-#satellite weapons test " highlights #Russia's hypocritical advocacy of outer space arms control...while clearly having no intention of halting its own counterspace program" per @StateDept Asst Sec Christopher Ford

A thread with some of the story of the “battery card” - the first pirate card sold for hacking DirecTV in the mid 1990s.

The battery card was a PCB slightly longer than a credit card, with chips on it to emulate a smartcard. Visible on the top of the card when inserted in a satellite receiver was a coin cell-type 3V battery.
Because the chips are thicker than a smartcard, the board would extend out of the cardslot to make room for the chips. Inside the satellite receiver, the battery card emulated an original smartcard. The satellite receiver wouldn’t know the difference.
