Sen. Susan Collins to reporters on censure: “I considered censure. If the House had started with a censure resolution, instead of leaping to impeachment and shortcutting the process and skipping over judicial adjudication, it's something I would have looked at.”
“At this point, the fact is the president has been impeached -- and only third president to actually be impeached in history -- both Republican senators such as myself and Democratic senators have criticized his conduct, strikes me as a reprimand,” Collins added
I asked if she believed the House proved its case Trump withheld aid to push Ukraine to announce a probe into the Bidens, Collins said: "The motivations for the president's actions are mixed. There was evidence on both sides in the record.”
Collins added: “What I object to is the president asking for -- what I object most to -- is the president asking a foreign country to investigate a political rival."
