ANNOUNCEMENT: With this, the Nth example of the exact-same-phenomenon of sticking it to @AndrewYang (where N is now large), I pledge *never* to take seriously ANY issue of IMPLICIT BIAS raised by members of this party or media based solely on pro-rata shares of a finite resource.
Implicit biases exist, but those who have thrown @JamesADamore out of work, subjected people to compulsory crank IAT’s to reveal their inner bigot, or have leveled hateful charges of racism/sexism based on simple pro-rata share arguments deserve to lose this idiot tactic forever.
I will simply not even be taking such arguments seriously from you Democrats and members of the press. The instant you bring it up, I will point out Andrew Yang’s consistent treatment at your hands. But why not just stop? It’s enough. Simply never again lecture us on this topic.
You the media and you Democratic Party strategists have, to me, ended your own invidious argument against decent people and it’s reign of terror forever.

Imagine the reviewer was the best person on earth, and the author the worst person...but with claims to essential results.

What is going on that academic reviewers are talking this flippantly about an essentially fiduciary & obligate duty to recuse themselves in all such cases??
Who is going to tell the current academicians “You don’t get to make that call. That’s never been a part of your job. Imagine the author is a *terrible* person. The worst. Tough luck. That isn’t a way we joke and for very good reasons. It’s a solemn non discretionary obligation.”

The first talk I ever gave revealing the Physics I was actually working on @ Harvard/MIT was at MIT at the insistence of the great Isadore Singer. The one man who *fully* understood what I said came to me afterwards & insisted we speak. He seemed half mad:

His name was Robert Hermann. I couldn't tell what was going on. He was very excited & wanted to be of any help possible. It was almost terrifying as I was not eager to discuss the work. When I told Singer about it, Singer said "That's a high compliment. Do you know who that is?"
I told Is "I know him from an enormous number of self-published books only" Then the great MIT Professor said: "Eric, that is the first man to figure out that quantum field theory is based on the geometry of Fiber Bundles before Simons, Wu, Yang & I did our work."

I was floored.

I voted third party in 2000, for Ralph Nader, because I was 19 and stupid and thought Gore was a centrist shill indistinguishable from Bush.

Then we went to war.

Real human beings died who would be alive today if just a few more of us had voted differently. That HAUNTS me.
By the time I realized how badly I had been played, it was too late. The 2004 election wasn’t even a contest. He swept back into power for a second term because almost nothing in American politics is stronger than wartime patriotism rhetoric. You can’t reason with that.
The Iraq War isn’t just something I lived through, something I resent seeing erased from the narrative because George W. is now a cuddly grandpa who hangs out with Ellen. It’s something I take seriously because it’s inextricably intertwined with the first vote I ever cast.

I'm torn on the #AlfieEvans case. On the one hand, it's clear that he managed remarkably better than all the doctors expected when he was taken off ventilation (nine hours breathing by himself). The consensus was the deprivation of support would lead to rapid deterioration. 1/n
On the other hand, when you read the medical evidence from the court case (from both "sides") it's clear that their is no cognitive brain function in Alfie and little chance it will return. Any "responses" from him are not even reflex. 2/n
It's clear the only path forward is palliative - even the Italian and German hospitals offering care accept this. The question is really where will #AlfieEvans die and how soon? It's a sobering thought. 3/n
