One thing I've always tried to strive for in my interface design work is something I refer to as "Transformative UI" which is UI that adapts, morphs, and transforms into the next step of the interaction pattern.

Context and semi-rational spacial logic help understanding.
When an entire screen refreshes (or slides in) to show a completely different interface, it takes time for your brain to catch up to what you're observing.

It's like watching a basketball disappear and reappear 20 yards away as a football.
When you're UI transforms, it's like watching a basketball roll from one side of the driveway to the other.

You can follow its path and understand its meaning without much effort.

Also, it's fun af.
For example, this search bar from 2011.
Or this map search bar from 2015 - dribbble.com/shots/2101655-…
And this from 2016 - dribbble.com/shots/2768567-…
typed the wrong "your" in one of those.

boy do i feel stupid. 🤦‍♂️
