here’s what distresses me abt Dem primaries now

so old I remembers when supporters spent most time/energy advocating FOR someone. now, thanks to this website, it’s so often supporters spending time denouncing Candidate X or Y as liar, racist, cheat, corrupt, or worse than Trump
a) I don’t think Dems candidates are those things. b) it creates wildly negative narrative that sticks for the general election
key point: Dem primaries have often been hotly contested, nasty between candidates as they sometimes brawl over policy etc.

With helpful steers from my old friend @TimothyS, I've spent some time looking into the organization, logistics and character of the South Korean 'Candlelight Revolution,' which precipitated the impeachment of Pres. Park Geun-hye by parliament.
The 'Candlelight' demonstrations, which took place on 20 consecutive Saturday nights from late Oct. 2016 to early March 2017, are often cited by American resisters as an example of street action we should be adopting. I wanted to see how those demonstrations came together.
The protests were organized by 'Energy Citizen Action for Park Geun-hye's Resignation' (aka 'Emergency Citizen Action' or ECA. ECA was itself a loose, purpose-specific coalition of 2,300 civic groups in 70 cities. These groups were largely 'progressive or reformist in nature.'

Yes, the economy appears to be doing well.
For starters, the federal government will be spending about 4 trillion dollars this year.
That is 4 billion dollars, one thousand times. 4 thousand times a billion dollars.
That kind of money tends to buy a lot of stuff.
But...
About a quarter of that money is borrowed. In other words, here's a trillion dollars that the govt is spending that didn't exist in the economy last yeat.
The magical appearance of a billion dollars about a thousand times over the course of a year will buy a bunch of stuff.
But.
At the same time, about a thousand billionaires each have a billion *extra* dollars that they didn't have last year.
Unlike you or me, billionaires don't spend all their money on shelter, groceries, and five thousand dollar suits.
They've got lots left over.
