Listen. I couldn't help it. I came in hot on this week's Muckrake Podcast. All this talk about "electability" means absolutely nothing and we're just circling the drain pretending like we're pundits in this chaos and anxiety machine.

We have to do better

"Electability" is just a made up word that has been code, for the most part, for "can this candidate appeal to conservative white voters."

It's a side-effect of cable news punditry that has turned politics into a game. We can't afford to treat this like a game anymore.
Pundits use "electability" to focus on whatever issues and beliefs they have. They ascribe political beliefs to a faceless, possibly nonexistent base of voters to criticize whatever they don't like and support whatever they believe.

It's a game. And we have to stop playing it.
The only way this country will ever get better is if people fight for things they believe in. That's it. This emphasis on politics as a zero-sum contest or trench warfare only leads to more Trumps and more authoritarianism.

Reject it right out of hand. Fight for a better future.
Anyway, I came in hot on the Muckrake Podcast and railed on this senseless trivialization of politics and this gameification we're stuck in.

Oh. And get money right out of this process. It's a poison. Straight. Poison.
