Warren is dominating this debate, but the socialism vs. capitalism section is a reminder that she's never really figured out how to message her distinctiveness here: she wants to save capitalism from the capitalists.
She is, as @henryfarrell argues, a pro-market leftist, in a way that sets her apart from the field, and makes for a contrast with both Sanders and Bloomberg. foreignpolicy.com/2019/12/12/eli…
Her career has been spent thinking about how the powerful rig markets and how they can be stopped, but her campaign mostly focuses on direct redistribution ideas aren't unique to her, or a window into what makes her thinking here different.

Something i’m becoming much more concerned about as I talk to health experts is health system supply in the event of a pandemic. Hospitals don’t run with scores of open ICU beds. If health experts need to be regularly quarantined, there aren’t endless backups.
Then there’s the knock-on problem of people avoiding health care: Imagine an elderly patient with chest pains who decides to wait and see because they fear the ER is full of patients who could give them COVID-19.
This is pandemic 101 stuff, but everyone I talk to says we’re unprepared, and the Trump admin isn’t moving nearly fast enough to do anything about it - perhaps because preparing would signal how bad this could get, and Trump’s PR strategy has been to downplay the possible spread.

A quick Elizabeth Warren story that's been on my mind this morning.

I sat down with Warren back in June. I was one more interview squeezed between back-to-back events in California, which was itself a trip squeezed between the time she was spending in the early states.
When I meet politicians under those scheduling circumstances, I always start by asking how they're holding up under the travel and schedule. It helps to give people who are still human beings a chance to admit they're tired, that this is hard on the body.
Warren looked me dead in the eye and said that she was absolutely great. She was loving it. She had learned, at her events, to tell the lighting staff to keep the lights on the audience high, so she could see the people she was talking to the whole time.

Taken on its own, "Rise of Skywalker" is a zippy sci-fi action movie with some fun bits that treats the main characters well after "Last Jedi" treated them horribly.

As Episode 9 of a "saga," it's the Hindenburg swerving to avoid a train wreck and plowing into the Titanic.
The last time I saw a movie retconned out of existence by its own series more vigorously than "The Last Jedi," it was "Highlander II." The opening crawl for RoS should have begun with a parenthetical note asking the audience to forget the previous movie. It would have saved time.
This is obviously a big problem for storytelling because it turns the entire Sequel Trilogy into a non-story, made up by different people as they went along. Everything intriguing in The Force Awakens was just random crap thrown at the wall to be figured out later.

One reason why the Marvel movies have really taken out a lot of the depth that is potentially there in superhero cinema-- they all, by and large, abandon the idea of the secret identity, one of the most interesting aspects of the genre.
Secret identities are a cornerstone of superhero narratives across the board, and help tie the characters to noir, spy and thriller genres. They put their heroes into the shadows, offer greater dramatic weight and counterbalance their literal superpowers.
It also gives more narrative purpose to characters in their orbit-- reporters and detectives tasked with finding out who the superhero is. It offers a lot of options for storytelling-- romcom meet cute (Superman), police procedural (Batman), political (X Men).
